Icelandair to re-launch flights to Chicago in 2016

Transatlantic bridge via Iceland gets further expansion
Icelandair has announced further expansion of its global network with a new year-round service to Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
Flights will begin in March 2016, with four weekly round-trips from Iceland on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and connections from more than 20 destinations in Europe.
Icelandair has a long history of providing flights between Europe and the United States, including a 15-year stint to Chicago that began in 1973. With the resumption of the Chicago service, the airline will offer services to 15 North American gateways.
Icelandair has been the main player in bridging Europe and North America via Iceland, helping to boost tourism to its home country and helping to make it one of Europe’s hottest destinations. The flights to Chicago will offer more options when traveling to the Midwest from Europe, including three cabins of service and Wi-Fi capabilities for all passengers.
“We are excited to return to the Windy City as a bigger, better airline that can best serve the dynamic market of Chicago and its nearly 10 million inhabitants,” Birkir Holm Gudnason, chief executive of Icelandair, commented.
