IHG and Amadeus to “revolutionise” hotel booking tech

Partners pledge to alter technological foundations of hospitality
Multinational hotel giant InterContinental Hotels Group says it is deepening its strategic relationship with global travel technology provider Amadeus to develop a next-generation guest reservation system that will “revolutionise the technological foundations of the global hospitality industry”.
Amadeus will use a new cloud-based community model, a first in the hotel sector, similar to the model it has already developed for the airline industry.
IHG is the launch partner for the system, working with Amadeus on its design and functionality. The new system will ultimately replace Holidex, IHG’s proprietary reservation system.
The move follows the completion of a “successful engineering study” by IHG and Amadeus to investigate “potential technologies and solutions to drive innovation in the industry for the long-term benefit of owners and guests”. The guest reservation system can be operated alongside Holidex to ease the transition to the new system, which is due to be rolled out globally in 2017.
