Injuries in bus accident near Swedish resort

A bus with 20 passengers left the road near the ski resort town of Idre.

Two people have been injured after a bus with 20 passengers left the road on riksväg (national highway) 70 near the ski resort town of Idre, close to the border with Norway.

The cause of the accident is being investigated, “but [conditions] are very bad at the site, which may be something to do [with the accident],” Bergslagen Police spokesperson Tommy Lindh told the national news agency TT.

Police confirmed the accident on their website on Sunday morning.

Icy weather
This part of Scandinavia has seen exceptionally cold temperatures over the last week.

The road was temporarily closed while a recovery operation occurred at the scene. One of the two wounded passengers was reported to have suffered a head injury and was rushed to hospital. Meanwhile, a replacement bus was driven to the place of the accident to collect the remaining passengers.
