International, domestic travel strong in Sweden

More people took to the skies in Sweden in September
The growth in passengers flying to and from airports in Sweden continued in September, operator Swedavia reports. The trend for international travel remains strong, with volume up a full 11% (almost 2.3 million pax), while domestic travel was up 4% (1.3 million).
A total of just over 3.5 million people arrived or departed from Swedavia’s ten airports, an increase of almost 300,000 passengers, 8% higher compared to September last year.
At Stockholm Arlanda, the international passenger volume was up 7%, the domestic passenger volume up 2%.
“During September, another international direct route was launched from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, to Hong Kong, which provides ever more passengers with an opportunity to fly non-stop to their destination,” said Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia.
“Domestic travel continues to trend in the right direction, and the figures for September show that the work to enhance access and increase people’s options for air travel in Sweden and beyond is a success.”
So far in 2015, the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports is up 5% to 28.3 million. International traffic increased 8% to 18.6 million during the first nine months of the year.
