Istanbul Aims for Shopping Fest to Boost Tourism

The Istanbul Shopping Fest will be held in this historic trading city in March and April.

Istanbul plans to raise its commercial image and the profile of its many modern shopping centres by staging a shopping festival next spring, from March 18 to April 26. At a press conference at the city’s Cıragan Palace, officials pledged €27 million as a budget for the event, with the aim of encouraging shoppers to spend €2.3 billion over 40 days.

Istanbul is building on its theme of “the city that never sleeps” as shops and malls open throughout the night in several Istanbul districts. Special prizes and “Win an Auto Every Day” campaigns are expected to be big attractions for tourists. Ninety shopping centres and many popular shops will stage special activities.
