Kenya is safe, say US travel agents

Operators visiting Kenya say it is one of the safest destinations

A group representing the major travel agents in the United States has visited Kenya and concluded that it is still one of the world’s safest holiday destinations. A statement released by Kenya’s tourism ministry yesterday said that the agents were there to assess the security situation following a spate of kidnappings emanating from neighbouring Somalia.
Leading the group was Scott Wiseman of the luxury travel company Abercrombie and Kent. He said that security was now more reassuring than before. Kenya says that it will not allow criminal gangs to destroy its lucrative tourism industry.
