Limit on Oktoberfest beer prices

Effort to encourage visitors to return to festival
In an effort to lure visitors back to Germany’s most famous drinking festival, a limit has been placed on the cost of a beer.
Oktoberfest visitor numbers have been declining lately, with hefty beer prices being one of the most common criticisms about the popular Bavarian fest.
Bavaria’s anti-cartel agency has approved a plan by the city of Munich to cap prices per litre of beer at €10.70 until 2019.
Beer tent owners, however, are against the move. Munich authorities will meet with them on May 9 to discuss this and a number of other new rules.
