Chief executive seeks senior position at Roche
Lufthansa’s chief executive is to leave the airline, the German newspaper Die Welt reports. The newspaper writes that sources close to the situation said that Christoph Franz had spoken with the airline’s supervisory board about a departure before his contract expires.
The airline then said in a statement: “Christoph Franz, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, has told Wolfgang Mayrhuber, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, that he will not be available to renew his contract when it expires on 31 May 2014.”
The business newspaper Handelsblatt reports that Franz, aged 53, is in advanced talks to join the Swiss pharmaceuticals company Roche, whose current chairman, Franz Humer, aged 67, plans to leave the company in spring 2014. Franz has been a member of the Roche board since 2011.
