Lufthansa pilots’ strike Wednesday

Strike affects short and medium-haul flights
Lufthansa’s short and medium-haul flights are being hit on Wednesday in the latest unannounced strike by pilots. It is the latest move by pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit to fight the airline’s plans to reduce early retirement benefits and expand low-cost operations.
The walkout will last for 24 hours, affecting flights throughout Germany – but not at low-cost units Germanwings and Eurowings.
In 2014, strikes over the same issues cost Lufthansa €232 million.
