Strike announcement comes just as rail walkout ends
Cockpit, the union of Lufthansa pilots, said today it would strike on October 20 and 21 – just as train drivers in Germany are promising no further strikes for seven days after its current nationwide strike ends on Monday at 04:00.
Cockpit says its new strike – the latest walkout over retirement benefits – will last from 13:00 on Monday until 23:59 on Tuesday. The strike will hit flights all over the country, reports say.
“The goal of the strike is a new collective agreement for all employees of the cockpit crew,” the union says on its website, adding that members regret “inconvenience to passengers.”
