Lufthansa cancels at least 64 flights today

Passengers are facing widespread flight disruption

Lufthansa passengers are facing widespread flight disruption from this morning as cabin crew union UFO begins a series of strikes over pay and cost-cutting at the airline. The union represents around two-thirds of Lufthansa’s 19,000 cabin crew. Late last night it asked its members in Frankfurt to strike on Friday from 03:00 (05:00 CET) to 11:00 GMT. Most of the flights hit are from Frankfurt to cities in Germany.
Lufthansa has planned on the cancellation of 64 flights, or 25% of its flights, during the duration of this morning’s strike, according to an airline spokesperson. It expects a total of 840 flights to operate successfully during Friday. But on its website, the airline says that the strike will also lead to “unplanned delays”.
