Mobile hotel rooms – available anywhere

Price will be €277 per night for up to four people

In an effort, it says, “to bring innovation to the hotel industry and offer unique solutions for guests”, the Nordic hotel chain Scandic is launching mobile hotel rooms under the name Scandic To Go, available at any location in the Nordic region a guest wants.

Scandic To Go comes equipped with all the amenities expected for a hotel stay, with two rooms, both 18 sq m, with an attached terrace. The rooms are equipped with two 90 cm beds, a small seating area, TV, free wi-fi, air conditioning and a fully equipped bathroom. The price will be SEK 2500 (€277) per night for up to four people.

Scandic says that popular locations to visit for tourists, such as the archipelago islands outside Stockholm, the Norwegian fjords or beaches on Gotland can often be situated far away from hotels, until now.

“We see a strong trend that people are looking for different experiences, something that is unique and tailor made,” Johan Michelson, Scandic’s VP brand & marketing, explains. “With a modern, mobile and fully equipped hotel which can be booked anywhere a guest wishes, we hope to attract guests from abroad who want to experience the Nordic countries in a different way, as well as all those looking for that little extra for a truly memorable experience.”

In 2013, 18.8 million foreign tourists visited Sweden and the amount of overnights increased by 1.4% with a peak during the summer months of June, July and August.
