Montenegro Airlines will resume a popular holiday route

Next summer, after a five-year break, Montenegro Airlines will resume its route between Copenhagen and one of the Balkans’ most popular destinations, Check-in writes.

The carrier will fly to Tivat, a resort on the Adriatic coast, from June 15 to August 17, once a week, on an Embraer E195 aircraft with space for 116 passengers.

Montenegro Airlines has already, since spring 2015, reopened its route between its biggest city Podgorica and Copenhagen Airport with a summer service. Now it is also reopening another CPH route.

Busy summers

Tivat has just 14,000 inhabitants but is the busiest of the country’s two international airports and has doubled its passenger numbers since 2006. It has a long list of connections during the busy summer season from May to the end of August.

Copenhagen is already linked to it, but only as a destination operated by charter flights from SAS and Jet Time.

Montenegro Airlines flies from Podgorica to 12 European destinations, including Paris, Frankfurt, Zurich, Vienna, Rome and Moscow. From Tivat it flies to five destinations. The company has a fleet of three E195s and two Fokker 100s, the latter of which are close to being retired. Despite a number of privatisation attempts, the company is still owned by the Montenegrin state.
