More Lufthansa strikes likely, possibly at Easter

Lufthansa flights back to normal but more strikes probable
Lufthansa services are now back to normal after a four-day pilots’ strike, the airline’s management says. But the union representing the pilots are warning of further walkouts, even over the coming Easter holidays.
A representative of the union Vereinigung Cockpit said more strikes may take place early next month as there had been no agreement with the airline on the main issue – eligibility for early retirement.
Meanwhile, Lufthansa faces more negotiations starting today with the labour union Verdi, which represents around 30,000 ground workers.
Short and medium haul flights have now fully resumed, but it has taken longer to get all long-haul flights operating as before, a Lufthansa spokesman said on Sunday.
Germany’s biggest airline cancelled 74 out of 160 long haul flights on Saturday, 700 flights on Friday and 90 more on Friday due to an air traffic controllers’ strike in Italy. The four-day pilots’ strike affected 220,000 passengers.
