Moscow airport staff drinking before crash

Russian regulator says alcohol was involved in Total crash
Two Moscow airport workers who caused a light aircraft to crash in October 2014, killing Christophe de Margerie, chief executive of Total, had been drinking alcohol, Russia’s aviation regulator says.
The executive was killed at Moscow Vnukovo along with the jet’s three-person crew when the plane collided with a snow plough during take-off.
The plough’s driver Vladimir Martynenko and a duty engineer, Vladimir Ledenev, both pleaded guilty in July.
Now that it has completed its own investigation, Russia’s Interstate Aviation Committee concludes that the two employees were indeed partly to blame for the tragedy. But it also said the accident could have been prevented if the plane’s crew had aborted take-off once they spotted the snow plough on the runway.
