Most confiscated items at London City Airport

Airport gives travel-friendly 70g jars of Marmite to passengers
London City Airport has published a top-ten list of the most confiscated items from passengers’ hand luggage. Number-one item? Snow globes.
Marmite, a popular spread in the UK, is the most confiscated branded food item, and it took over the LCY security gates yesterday as passengers were given the opportunity to swap their prohibited jars for a travel-friendly 70g version.
By doing this on one of the busiest days of the year, with 17,500 travellers passing through, the airport hoped to draw attention to the fact that any container with more than 100ml of liquid, gels and pastes is prohibited.
Marmite is also monitoring the one-day event as it is considering rolling out the initiative at airports nationwide.
A recent survey by YouGov found that around one in eight people (13%) in the UK have had to surrender an item in their hand luggage. The top 10 most commonly confiscated items at London City Airport:
1. Snow globes
2. Jams and spreads
3. Toiletries
4. Chutneys and pickles
5. Olive oils
6. Wine
7. Spirits
8. Marmite
9. Nutella
10. Furry handcuffs
