MSC Cruises to monitor travel agents’ marketing materials
MSC Cruises says it will monitor travel agents’ marketing materials in the press and media as well as their websites in an effort to stop discounting. MSC is cutting commission to between 10% and 14% this year, while also removing its 5% online discounting message. This, it explained, would clarify confusion from consumers and “frustration among the trade”.
Stephen Moffett, director of sales for MSC Cruises UK, told TTG Digital that the cruise line would monitor marketing materials, websites and advertising to make sure agents were not discounting. Any agent found to be discounting would be personally contacted and MSC would be forced to cancel the commercial agreement if the agent did not comply.
