Munich Airport gets go-ahead for third runway

Runway to increase number of possible aircraft movements to 120

The government of Bavaria has approved Munich Airport’s plans for a third runway, 4000 metres long, the construction of which will raise the number of possible aircraft movements at the airport from 90 to 120. However, restrictions include flights operating only between 06:00 and 22:00. Construction can now finally begin on the runway, six years after FMG, the operating company that runs MUC, initially launched planning for the runway, which should be put into operation by 2015. A new terminal satellite facility is also planned, increasing the number of gates at Terminal 2 from 27 to 52.
