New chief takes over at Air Greenland

Michael Højgaard is new Air Greenland CEO

Michael Højgaard will take over as the new chief executive at Air Greenland from 1 August 2013. He will take over from Michael Binzer, who is leaving Air Greenland at the end of March to become head of TelePost Greenland. Michael Højgaard, 51, was vice president of SAS Technical Services AB in Stockholm from 1998 to 2005, but was previously employed by Air Greenland in the period 1994-98 as chief technology officer and later commercial manager.
“With Michael Højgaard Air Greenland is getting an experienced leader with experience in aviation, in particular from five years in Greenland,” the airline’s chairman Jens Wittrup Willumsen said. “Greenland is facing major changes and it is important for the company to have a leader who, together with the employees, can continue the positive trend Air Greenland has begun.”
Willumsen added: “Competition in aviation to, from and within Greenland is increasing, but new business opportunities are on the rise. Air Greenland needs a leader who can ensure the competitiveness of the company and at the same time seize new growth opportunities for the benefit of the company and society.”
Michael Højgaard said he was “delighted to come back to Air Greenland and again to stay in Greenland with my family. Greenland has embarked on a very exciting journey, which we look forward to being a part of.”
