Maldives resort has world’s largest all-glass undersea dining
A new resort has just opened in the Maldives featuring the world’s largest all-glass undersea restaurant.
There are 90 luxury villas, including 60 over-sea options and 30 on the beach, at the Hurawalhi Island Resort, plus a spa and dive centre. But it is the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant that is getting the most attention, so called because it is 5.8 metres below the surface of the Indian Ocean.
There are several F&B options above the waves too, including a teppanyaki grill and private beachfront dining.
The resort tries to be eco-friendly, with solar panels and the resort’s own water bottling facility negating the need for plastic bottles. It is also working with marine conservation group Manta Trust to offer educational dives and snorkelling trips. The island is a nesting area for green turtles and a breeding ground for manta rays.
