Nordic aircraft lessor expands and diversifies

Nordic Aviation Capital sees strong growth in fiscal year
Billund-based Nordic Aviation Capital is continuing to see strong growth in revenues and earnings.
The worldwide aircraft leasing company, which focuses on turboprops – and now E-Jets too – said it “strengthened its position as the world’s premier lessor of regional aircraft” by ending the 2015-16 fiscal year, ending June 30, with operating profit (EBITDA) up by 90% to US$439 million, operating profit (EBIT) improving from $239 million to $303 million, and a net result of $142 million, up from $111 million.
It also showed continued expansion of its business platform through the “addition of new aircraft, new customers, new colleagues and increased business with existing customers. As a result, NAC improved its financial performance for the 20th consecutive year”.
The company added 43 planes to its active turboprop fleet and took steps to become a major player in the regional Embraer E-Jet market segment by entering into purchase agreements for 44 E-Jets.
By the end of the fiscal year it owned 278 aircraft and had purchase commitments for 52 more. NAC and its sister companies Jetscape Aviation Group and Aldus Aviation own and manage around 15% of the global turboprop fleet and 7% of the global E-Jet fleet.
To support further growth, NAC continued to expand its financing relationships adding $828 million to existing loan facilities and sourcing $995 million in new loan facilities during the fiscal year.
