Nordic cities on high alert

Police warn of copycat terror attacks
Police are on high alert in the Nordic capitals with the possibility of copycat attacks following Friday’s attack in Stockholm, when a truck drove into pedestrians and crashed into a department store, killing four people and injuring 15.
The dead include two Swedish citizens, one Briton and one Belgian. A memorial ceremony was held on Sunday at nearby the plaza Sergels Torg.
An Uzbek man aged 39 is accused of the attack in a stolen beer truck. He is an asylum seeker whose application was rejected. In December he was given four weeks to leave the country but is believed to have gone into hiding.
The threat level in Sweden has been at three on a scale of five since 2010 when a disaffected Iraqi Swede blew himself up on a street very close to where Friday’s attack took place.
In Oslo, police destroyed a “bomb-like” device on Sunday and made one arrest. Norway’s intelligence services raised the national threat at the weekend from “possible” to “probable”. Meanwhile, tighter border controls have been introduced on the Swedish-Norwegian border.
