Nordic firms in “responsible tourism” awards list

World Responsible Tourism Awards longlist revealed
Nordic tourism companies are featured in the longlist for the World Responsible Tourism Awards, the ceremony for which takes place at the World Travel Market in London in November.
All of the entrants span 69 countries worldwide. From Sweden, Asian tour operator Lotus Travel is on the list, as is the hotel chain Scandic. In Iceland, whale watching pioneers North Sailing are represented, while two companies in Finland are also on the list – Hetta Huskies and the Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos.
“Each and every one of these organisations is playing an important role in championing responsible tourism – the submission forms have given us an exciting taste of what they are doing and we’re looking forward to discovering more about their unique and inspirational stories,” said Justin Francis, the awards founder and managing director of organisers Responsible Travel.
An independent judging team will now assess the longlisted companies. A shortlist will be announced in July, with the winners revealed at a ceremony on November 4, on World Responsible Tourism Day at WTM.
The full list of companies can be seen on the website.
