Nordic visitor to Thailand is 26 millionth in 2015

Thailand visitor numbers up from 25mn to 26mn in 10 days
The 26 millionth tourist to Thailand this year is Tommy Jeppsson from Norway, who arrived in Phuket on Friday and was surprised to be the centre of a grand welcome ceremony presided over by tourism minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul together with tourism business representatives.
Jeppsson was also named as one of the country’s “luckiest visitors” for 2015, as part of the “Thailand’s Luckiest Visitor” campaign launched in June in conjunction with the “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign, which aims to encourage international visitor numbers.
Thailand’s visitor numbers this year show no sign of slowing down, surging from 25 million to 26 million in just 10 days during November. The country is aiming at 28.8 million international visitors this year.
“I have chosen Phuket as the travel destination for the winter break to enjoy the nice weather, amazing Thai food and culture, beaches and natural attractions,” Jeppsson commented.
He received two economy-class return tickets to Thailand, valid for a year, a voucher for a five-night stay at a luxury accommodation, a mobile phone with a 4G sim-card and seven-day Internet usage for use during the trip.
