Nordica builds strategic partnership with LOT

Estonian flag carrier ends cooperation with Adria
The Estonian flag carrier Nordica is ending its cooperation with Slovenia’s Adria Airways and launching a strategic partnership instead with LOT Polish Airlines, using LOT’s commercial platform, ticketing system and flight code.
Nordica says its fleet will increase by three aircraft over the next year, while LOT will buy 49% of Nordica’s subsidiary Regional Jet. The new partnership is set to begin on November 19.
“Nordica has entered a new phase of development,” chief executive Jaan Tamm said. “Cooperation with LOT […] will enable us to improve the sustainability of our business model and ensure the company’s financial security and credibility on the international aviation market.”
The airline is considering launching flights to Warsaw next year.
LOT, meanwhile, said this was the first case of such cooperation between aviation companies in Central and Eastern Europe, showing that airlines in the region do not have to surrender to large Western European carriers, losing their national identity and reducing their scale of operations.
