North America’s tallest hotel opens

Marriott opens hotel that adds to New York skyline

Marriott International has opened an addition to the New York City skyline, a combined 378-room Courtyard hotel and 261-suite Residence Inn in Midtown Manhattan.

The $320 million tallest single-use hotel in North America is located at 1717 Broadway. Built and owned by G Holdings and managed by Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the dual-branded 68-story hotel is a few steps from Central Park and Times Square.

“This opening is a prime example of an ideal dual-branded hotel” said Janis Milham, senior vice president of Modern Essentials and Extended Stay for Marriott International. “The new hotels’ contemporary designs and stunning views coupled with our friendly associates will surely make the property a great ambassador for the bustling city.”

The hotels have valet parking, a combined 560 square metres of meeting space, a fitness centre on the 35th floor and an outdoor sundeck. Some guest rooms also feature floor-to-ceiling windows, maximising the spectacular views.

New York City welcomed 54.3 million visitors in 2013.
