Norway to hold biggest local food festival

Bergen prepares to stage Norway’s biggest local food fest
While Copenhagen and Aarhus are preparing for their major food festivals, Bergen is making ready for the biggest local food festival in Norway.
At Bergen Matfest, to be held at the Koengen outdoor venue on September 1-3, producers will be presenting and selling their own products, all made from local raw materials. More than 100 exhibitors will display their wares.
Also promised are attractions and creative events for people of all ages. Events include the semi-final of Det Norske Måltid, a food competition for Norway’s finest food products. Families can meet farm animals and there is a food festival especially for children.
Bergen Beer Festival is being organised too, in cooperation with Bergen Matfest, featuring Norway’s best beers from more than 40 breweries.
Bergen has the status of a UNESCO city of gastronomy, an exclusive list that Østersund in Sweden has also joined in 2017.
