Norway’s biggest exhibition centre to get major hotel

Scandic to build new 12-floor property at Lilleström, near Oslo
The Nordic countries’ biggest hotel operator has announced a new hotel, Scandic Portalen, to open in January 2018 at Norway’s largest congress centre, Norway Trade Fairs, in Lilleström. Lilleström is one of the country’s most important hubs for business travel and the only stop on the Flygtoget rail line between the airport and Oslo Central Station.
Scandic Hotels says that the new 12-floor hotel, which will be located at the Lilleström train station, will be the tallest building in the area. It will have 220 hotel rooms and 500 square metres of meeting and conference facilities.
Lilleström is located 20 kilometres from Oslo. In addition to the new hotel, the area will include apartments as well as office and retail space.
“With its strategic location at one of Norway’s most important hubs for business travellers and the largest exhibition centre in the country, Scandic Portalen will be a valuable addition to our Norwegian hotel portfolio,” says Frank Fiskers, president and CEO of Scandic Hotels.
