Norwegian beats SAS for first time

Twelve-month passenger figures now higher for LCC
SAS revealed its January passenger numbers this week, with 1.9 million passengers flying with it during the month. That makes 29.54 million passengers over the past 12 months, Danish bank Sydbank says – a figure now eclipsed by low-cost rival Norwegian.
Norwegian carried 29.66 million passengers over the same period, marking the first time it has topped its long-established rival.
For January itself, Norwegian came out on top with 2.1 million passengers, up 20% year-on-year, to SAS’s 1.9 million, up 9.8%.
In 2005, Norwegian had 13 aircraft. A decade later it has 99, with more than 200 additional planes to join the fleet in the coming years.
