Norwegian Cruise Line plans huge new ship

Breakaway Plus will carry around 4,200 passenger berths

Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed plans to build an extra-large cruise ship, even bigger than two already under construction. It will be delivered in October 2015 under a €700 million contract, with the option of a second ship for delivery in spring 2017.
The new vessel, which has the temporary name Breakaway Plus, will carry around 4,200 passenger berths, making it bigger than Norwegian’s Breakaway and Getaway ships currently under construction and due for delivery in April 2013 and January 2014. Each of these has double capacity of 3,988.
Breakaway Plus is now the biggest cruise ship under construction in the world. Only Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas are bigger, already sailing with 5412 double capacity each. All of Norwegian Cruise Line’s new ships are being constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyards in Germany.
