Norwegian divides Nordic business travellers

Opinion on budget long-haul flights is divided

Business travellers are still ambivalent to Norwegian’s launch of low-cost flights to Asia and the US, a new report suggests. In Resegeometri’s latest travel industry measurement, Forecast & Travel Behavior 2013, more than 1500 Nordic business travellers flying to Asia and North America assessed the likelihood that they would use budget airlines on long distances when this will become a reality next year.
Based on their experience of budget airlines, more than half of the customers said a definite “No” to use them in this context, which is exactly the same proportion as a year ago. Around 37% said it was fairly likely that they would do it, but only 11% said it was very likely. Most adverse to using budget airlines on long-haul flights are Swedish business travellers, 57% of whom said it was not at all likely (55% in 2011). The least negative opinion was found in Denmark where a declining share (36%) said it was not at all likely (42% in 2011).
