Norwegian Jewel, a cruise ship that can carry more than 2,300 passengers, made its maiden voyage this weekend. It docked at its home port in New Orleans on Sunday.

The 295-metre vessel is due to sail seven-day cruises through the Western Caribbean from now until mid-April, with ports of call including Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; and Roatan and Bay Islands, Honduras.

Norwegian Jewel has 16 places to eat, 13 bars and lounges, three swimming pools, six hot tubs, a spa and fitness centre and a casino, the Associated Press reports.
