Norwegian: record quarterly results

Quarterly net profit at almost a billion Norwegian kroons
Norwegian is reporting today its “best quarterly results ever”, with net profit at NOK 993 million (€111 million) for the third quarter, an improvement of NOK 160 million from the same period last year.
Load factor was 91.3% and “the performance was positive in all markets, with Spain boasting the strongest passenger growth”, the airline says. Norwegian carried 8.6 million passengers during the quarter, a 12% rise.
Total revenue was NOK 8.4 billion, up 15%. Production growth (ASK) and traffic growth (RPK) were both 17%.
The strong growth in Spain was driven primarily by Spanish domestic routes, the airline said, and the country is now the second largest market for Norwegian in terms of passenger figures.
The number of American passengers is also increasing. Norwegian launched flights between Paris and several US cities in the third quarter and announced new routes between Barcelona and the US.
So far this year, Norwegian has taken delivery of three new Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 14 new 737-800s. With an average age of 3.6 years, the carrier says it has “one of the world’s most modern and fuel-efficient fleets”.
