Norwegian to fly Dreamliner on European routes

Airline says it will operate 787 within Europe this summer

Norwegian has announced today that it will operate its new Boeing 787 on a number of European routes this summer, before it enters long-haul service.
The airline is due to take delivery of its first 787 at the end of June, and Norwegian is deploying the Dreamliner to operate on European routes from July 4 to August 4.
Passengers will get the chance to experience the Dreamliner during this period on routes from Oslo to London, Alicante, Malaga, Nice and Barcelona. Customers who have already booked tickets on flights to these destinations will receive an email from Norwegian about the Dreamliner replacing the Boeing 737. The airline says that “many more seats will be available for sale on these flights”.
Despite the aircraft type’s recent battery problems, Norwegian says that the more “environmentally friendly” 787 will reduce the company’s costs and enable it to offer competitive airfares. In addition, the cabin is pressurised at a lower level, making the air more similar to ground level and reducing jet-lag symptoms.
Norwegian has eight 787 Dreamliners on order, three of which will be delivered in 2013, four in 2014 and one in 2015. It has signed an agreement to lease two Airbus A340-300 long-haul aircraft that will be used on intercontinental flights until the Dreamliner enters service.
