Norwegian to partner with low-cost rivals?

Collaboration would expand number of short-haul routes
Norwegian is interested in expanding its short-haul network by forging partnerships with other low-cost carriers like Ryanair and easyJet, news agency Reuters reports.
Europe’s third-biggest budget airline by passenger numbers has gone further geographically than its rivals, with flights to the Middle East, the United States and Southeast Asia. Collaboration would cover the short-haul arena.
“We will definitely look at cooperating with other low-cost players. We cannot cover the whole of Europe,” chief executive Bjorn Kjos told Reuters on the sidelines of an aviation finance conference in Dublin. “That gives us the possibility to fly passengers not to 450 routes, but maybe 2000 routes.”
Kjos said that long-haul operations using Boeing 787 Dreamliners were already profitable. The airline has a fleet of around 100 aircraft and more than 260 on order and is confident it can fund all the planes it has on order via a diverse range of funding options, for example by sourcing financing from US capital markets.
