Oslo police find stolen Ashanti jewels

Radisson Blu hotel surveillance camera catches thief

A video surveillance camera at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Oslo caught the suspects of the daring theft of the Ghanaian Ashanti crown jewels, leading to the arrest of one man at Stockholm’s Arlanda airport as he tried to leave Sweden. Police have also released the photos and names of two more suspects. Marcia Veronica Blas Valerio, otherwise known as Maria Elena Ayma Ludena, was caught on camera actually taking the jewels and Jose Oblitas Vidarte Monteza is identified as an accomplice. The criminals are known to have travelled to Sweden two days after the incident and it is possible they are still there.
Two gold objects belonging to King Otomfuo Osei Tutu II were found at Arlanda. It is unclear as to whether more priceless objects are still missing. As previously reported, the king had been in Oslo for a Norwegian-African business conference.
