Phuket Tourist Association says flood images are bad for business
The Phuket Tourist Association wants foreign governments’ cooperation to get travel advisories and flood warnings for Thailand lifted as soon as possible. The president of the association, Somboon Jirayus, says that images of the floods in the foreign media have drastically cut incoming tourists numbers to areas in the country that are not affected, like Phuket.
“Many countries, especially in Scandinavia, have issued travel advisories for their tourists to avoid travelling to Bangkok because they misunderstand that Don Mueang Airport is the only airport in Bangkok, and [they have] assumed that flooding has affected all of Thailand,” he said.
