Plane crashes into bus, killing at least 10

Cargo plane crash-lands close to airport in Ghanaian capital Accra

The crash landing of a cargo plane has resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people on the ground when it overshot the runway and hit a minivan. The crew of four on board the aircraft survived. The Boeing 727 Allied Air plane was arriving from Nigeria’s economic capital Lagos on Saturday evening. Rescue and fire officers rushed to where the wreckage of the plane could be seen along with the badly damaged bus. The wings and tail had been snapped off the plane.
One witness said: “I closed from work, walking home in the rain, only to see the plane falling and people in the Benz bus crushed to death.”
Ghana’s Vice President John Dramani Mahama pledged that a thorough investigation would be carried out.
