Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom is twice as tall as Statue of Liberty
Twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty, a new attraction at the Six Flags adventure park in New Jersey, USA, reaches speeds of 150 kilometres per hour in a ten second freefall. It is the world’s tallest and fastest drop ride.
Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, which stands 126 metres (41 stories) tall, opened this summer as part of the park’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Before they plummet to the ground, riders can see the skyscrapers of Philadelphia more than 80 kilometres away. Each Zumanjaro drop tower features a gondola with eight riders, who are buckled into floorless seats.
It is connected to the Kingda Ka rollercoaster, the world’s tallest and fastest coaster, which curves and spins up and over Zumanjaro at speeds of up to 150 km/h.
“Zumanjaro solidifies Six Flags’ dominance as the Northeast’s only destination for thrills. It is on every adrenaline junkies’ must-do list,” said John Fitzgerald, park president.
Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom has been named the number-three most thrilling ride in the US, according to USA Today. Courtesy of Theme Park Review, it can be experienced here.
