Robot-run hotel gets Guinness approval

Hotel in Nagasaki is world’s first robot-staffed hotel
Henn-na Hotel in Nagasaki, Japan, is the world’s first robot-staffed hotel, according to the Guinness World Records, and there are plans to open 100 such properties within five years.
Hideo Sawada, president of the Huis Ten Bosch theme park, where the hotel is located, said the property had been recognised by Guinness World Records as “the first robot-staffed hotel” in the world.
“Our hotel will keep on moving with the evolution of robots and artificial intelligence, aiming to entertain our guests better and make them happy,” he told a press conference in Tokyo.
“We want to boost the number of this kind of hotel to 100 over three to five years, including those abroad and under franchise.”
Henn na means “strange” in Japanese. It opened in July 2015 with 144 rooms and 186 robots, which work as multilingual receptionists, porters and other jobs. So far the hotel has had more than 80,000 guests.
