Russia’s tourism industry faces image problem

Bureaucracy, security, infrastructure add to Russia’s poor image

Russia’s tourism industry has problems attracting visitors from the US and Europe due to its “poor image” new research shows at WTM Vision Conference in Moscow.

Last year inbound tourism arrivals reached 26 million, according to Euromonitor International. Despite this growth the country is still reliant on visitors from neighbouring countries.

According to Euromonitor’s senior research analyst Mantas Kaluina the main problem was visa bureaucracy, security, infrastructure and the quality of tourism services.
