Ryanair to close base at Billund as well as CPH

But carrier will continue to fly from both airports
Low-cost carrier Ryanair confirms it will leave Billund in Denmark, its second announcement about the closure of a Danish base in four days.
The move avoids a strike at the airport threatened by Danish unions and comes as Ryanair officially shifts its recently-opened base at Copenhagen to Kaunas in Lithuania. But the airline will continue to fly from both airports.
Ryanair has operated at Billund since spring 2012 with little direct competition. But it will now its planes from there to London Stansted and a third to Dublin.
Twelve of its 14 summer routes at Billund will continue, but four winter will be cut to just one (London, with Budapest, Malaga, Tenerife dropped). This means its total Billund traffic will be cut from 700,000 passengers a year to little over 300,000.
