Sámi specialists open office in Berlin

Nutti Sámi Siida opens marketing offices in Germany
Sami tour operator Nutti Sámi Siida, based in Jukkasjärvi for almost 20 years, has opened a marketing office in the German capital Berlin.
“We want to be closer to our main clientele, the German-speaking market, and we believe that our work will be more efficient,” said the firm’s owner Nils Torbjörn Nutti.
Sápmi, Sámi country, with its unique nature and culture, is one reason why the region’s attractiveness as a destination is increasing, Nutti says.
Sami ecotourism experiences related to light phenomena such as the midnight sun and the Northern Lights, as well as accommodation in cosy cabins with reindeer nearby, local food traditions and the silence, are “simply unbeatable”, he explains.
“Half of all European tourists visiting the [northern county of] Norrbotten are the Germans. Nature and culture trips are on the upward trend and there is great interest in Sápmi and the Sámi.”
The office in Berlin is propelled by Liane Gruda and Hans-Joachim Gruda, two “expert enthusiasts” with knowledge of Sápmi and the Sámi people, coupled with their own backgrounds in the tourism industry.
“Through extensive contacts with the media, tour operators, events, lectures and participation in fairs targeted at the German speaking market, the interest in travel to Sápmi will be promoted,” Nutti said.
