Finavia releases film showing Santa using airport
Santa Claus always flies from Rovaniemi Airport, as he has many important meetings and events to attend when not busy at his workshop. To show how the old man in red is still such a regular traveller, Finnish airport operator Finavia has released a video showing him setting off from Rovaniemi.
Christmas Eve is a busy time at Korvatunturi, or Santa Claus Village, situated right on the Arctic Circle. But he has plenty of important meetings and events to attend throughout the year. His reindeer sleigh is reserved for Christmas. Otherwise, he prefers to travel by plane.
Rovaniemi Airport is conveniently close to Santa’s home, Finavia stresses, and he is often seen there in his familiar red coat and hat.
“Santa is a frequent flyer who appreciates the modernity of Rovaniemi Airport and handles security checks and the other airport procedures with aplomb,” Finavia says.
The video shows Santa praising the Chritmastime hub as “very fast”, even with so many visitors to the town at this time of year. Security is necessary, he adds, although “sometimes it happens I’ve forgotten a pen in my pocket or something.”
