SAS and Samsung create smartwatch tech

Gear S2 smartwatch can ease security checks
SAS’s innovation division, SAS Labs, has teamed up with Samsung to develop a way to give passengers access to the airline’s app and Smart Pass via the tech giant’s Gear S2 smartwatch.
In addition to acting as a boarding pass, the app via the portable technology gives users up-to-date information on when their flight is due to leave, what gate it will depart from and which seats they have been allocated.
The Smart Pass app, meanwhile, allows users to pass through airport security “simply and wirelessly, just by placing the watch next to an NFC reader”.
SAS Labs has conducted a number of tests using NFC technology, including microchip-implanted rings and armbands. The app has been available on iOS for some time and is also a feature of the Android version. It is available from Galaxy Apps and is compatible with SAS app version 2.13 for Android. SAS has released a video about travelling using Smart Pass here.
