SAS closes two more of its routes

A route each from Stockholm and Copenhagen are axed

SAS is closing two more routes with just a few days’ notice, as the airline’s budget cuts continue to take effect.

The route between Stockholm and the English city of Birmingham is cancelled from June 27. Copenhagen-Turku will officially close on July 28, but maintenance work at the Finnish airport from June 30 means the final flight will be at the end of this month. Passengers with tickets on the routes will be re-booked on other flights.

“When we close routes or reduce capacity, it’s to do with the routes’ profitability, which hasn’t been sufficient,” Trine Kromann-Mikkelsen, the airline’s head of press relations, was reported as saying.
