SAS fights rising trend of drunk passengers

New guidelines limit beers, wines and spirits consumed
SAS is restricting passengers flying within Europe to three alcoholic drinks per flight, as it reports a rising trend of drunk passengers on its planes last summer.
The airline says that intoxicated passengers caused problems for cabin crew on several routes in 2014 and has decided to bring in new guidelines to limit the number of beers, wines and spirits consumed on its flights.
“We had a few situations last year, but I can’t go into the details,” Malin Selander, head of media relations in Sweden, tells The Local. “These are not hard and fast rules but guidelines that cabin crew can lean on, so that if passengers appear to be getting too drunk they can be asked to stop drinking. Drinking can be a problem for security and we also want to make sure that all our other passengers are having a good time and not being disturbed by others.”
The guidelines apply to passengers with SAS Plus tickets, which include food and drink, as well as SAS Go.
