SAS premieres new aircraft type

First of 30 A320neos flies Stockholm-Copenhagen
Today SAS begins to fly with the fuel-efficient Airbus A320neo, the first flight being from Stockholm to Copenhagen.
Neo stands for new engine option, a technique that makes the aircraft type 15% more fuel-efficient than the regular A320 and 50% less noisy. It has room for 174 passengers and a range of 4,600 kilometres.
SAS has ordered 30 of the A320neo planes over four years, the last eight to be delivered in 2019. The neo gets the same interior layout that SAS has in place in its long-haul fleet.
“We look forward to welcoming our guests on our first of 30 new Airbus A320neos, which contribute to further reducing SAS’s emissions and environmental impact,” said the airline’s chief executive Rickard Gustafson.
“Many of our customers travel frequently with us, and we play an important role in many people’s everyday lives. Our new cabin on our long-haul aircraft has been welcomed, and now we move on to the short and medium range fleet, where we have invested in very fast Wi-Fi surfing speeds.”
