SAS premium economy seating “world’s best”

Scandinavian Airlines also orders new seats for short-haul fleet

A new survey by Global Traveler has named Scandinavian Airlines’ long-haul premium economy offering, Economy Extra, the world’s best seating in its category. More than 36,000 frequent fliers took part in the survey, almost all of whom travel in a service class other than straight-forward economy. SAS – one of the first airlines to introduce a premium economy back in 2001 – placed first in the category Best Airline for Premium Economy. Economy Extra is available on all long-haul flights between Scandinavia and Asia and the US.
In other news, SAS has just ordered new seats for its short-haul fleet. It says that the lightweight “next generation” Recaro seats give customers additional leg room. They’re also better for the environment as they are lighter. Eight Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be refitted with the new seats during 2012 (a total of 1484 seats) and on further aircraft in 2013.
