SAS reports record August load factor

Load factor up by 1.8 percentage points to 78.8%

SAS reports that group traffic increased by 6.9% in August, pushing up load factor to a record level for August, by 1.8 percentage points to 78.8%. SAS Group carried 2.3 million passengers in August, up 4.7%, while capacity (ASK) increased by 4.5%.
“Traffic growth was good on most routes during August and especially strong on European routes as the group increased its seasonal capacity to leisure destinations during the summer”, the airline said in a statement.
“The response to marketing campaigns is good and forward booking levels are well above last year’s level. Overall, market growth continues to be good but remains unpredictable due to added capacity in certain markets, risk in the global economy and high jet fuel prices. […] SAS Group plans to increase the capacity by 4-5% in 2012 vs. 2011.”
